Diversity in all fields is important as different ways of thinking and seeing the world brings about new and creative ways to problem solve and innovate. Nowhere is this more important than in STEM fields. Students from underrepresented populations in STEM have the opportunity to greatly impact their own communities, while developing ground-breaking solutions to solve some the biggest challenges in our state, country, and the world.
I believe supporting our underrepresented students in pursuing their STEM aspirations will positively contribute to the future advancements of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Our students provide the STEM fields with perspectives, experiences and diversity outside of the current norm. Additionally, our commitment to helping underrepresented minorities succeed in STEM today is laying a foundation that is ever growing and inspiring future STEM leaders from diverse communities.
